Rates & FAQ

  • For counseling and coaching, my rate is $175/hr.

For the EFT Marriage Intensive, we do a package which you can find here: EFT Marriage Intensive

  • I am considered an "Out-Of-Network" provider, which means I do not accept any insurances directly.

If you would like to use your insurance, then I am able to provide you with a monthly receipt called a "Superbill" and you can submit this to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance provider directly and checking with them to confirm if you have "Out Of Network" benefits for mental health.

Otherwise you can choose to see me privately and not involve your insurance at all. See why many of my clients choose this option below.

  • Many of my clients actually prefer to work with me privately and not involve their insurance at all. This is because in order to use your insurance for counseling, a mental health diagnosis is required, and this gets attached to your record. Insurance can also put limitations on the number of counseling sessions you can have, prior to truly completing the process.

And by not taking insurance, I’m able to maintain a smaller caseload of clientele and devote all of my focus into helping people. Instead of taking hours each week going back and forth with insurance, I devote that time and energy to my clients, resulting in better outcomes for therapy.

  • My intake forms generally are fast to fill out and take about 15 minutes to complete total however the more detailed information you give the more prepared I will be for our first session.

  • We will start by getting acquainted, reviewing important policies, and begin to explore what brought you to see me.

  • I work with adult individuals and couples that are ready to put in the work to change. My practice is set up best for those who are stable enough to begin to do deeper emotional processing. I am not set up well to serve those in immediate crisis as I work by appointment only.

  • I use Emotionally Focused Therapy with couples and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy for individuals. Both approaches are focused on helping you learn to listen to your internal world and process emotions so you can be freed up to thrive.

  • Every case is different but my hope is that you can start to feel relief within 6-8 sessions though the total time can vary greatly. After I’ve had a chance to assess your situation I will be able to give you a more accurate estimate.

  • Generally I do not “assign” homework because my approaches are focused on the change happening in the room together. Having said that there likely will be times where you want to work on something in between sessions and I’ll help you set realistic and compassionate expectiations for yourself.

  • Couples will need to begin seeing me either weekly for 60 min sessions or biweekly for 2 hour sessions. Individuals usually begin at weekly for 60 min sessions. Once progress is happening and “sticking” in between sessions we can start to scale back the frequency of sessions.

  • My wife tells me I’m a goofball! I love spending time with my family in the great outdoors as much as possible. Also a random fact is that I was the treasurer of the Marshall University Dodgeball Club.

  • Its normal and expected we will reach points in therapy where we can feel stuck. Its important that we discuss this together and try to pinpoint where we are blocked and attempt to work through the block. Sometimes it may be necessary for us to make a change in order to get unstuck (i.e. referring a couple to also get individual therapy). Sometimes, though much less frequently, I may stop feeling like I’m a good fit for your situation and decide it’s best for you to see another therapist who may be better suited. In the case of couples therapy sometimes we just don’t have enough emotional safety to do the work and we may need to pause or discontinue couples work until we are more ready. In the case that we need to make a change to your care I will walk with you through that process and provide the best referral options I can. If possible I will continue to meet with you until that new support is in place.
